National Geographic Society tarafından çözümlemesi yaptırılarak bilim dünyasına sunulan ve bu cemiyetin çıkardığı National Geographic Türkiye’nin Mayıs 2006 kapak konusu olan Yahuda İncili, 20. yüzyılın sonlarında Mısır’da bulunan gnostik karakterli bir İncil nüshasıdır. Bu İncilin ortaya çıkışının ilk bakışta Hıristiyan dünyaya bomba etkisi yaptığı muhakkaktır. Çünkü bu İncil, Hıristiyanlık tarihinde ihanetçi olarak görüldüğünden kendisinden en çok nefret edilen bir şahsın –İsa’nın on ikinci havarisi olan Yahuda İskaryot’un- aslında İsa’nın rolünün gerçekleşmesini sağlayan bir kahraman olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu yazıda bu Yahuda İncili muhtevasıyla birlikte Türk okuyucusuna tanıtılarak değerlendirilmesi yapılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak da eğer Yahuda İskaryot İsa’yı ele vermek suretiyle ona ihanet etmemiş olsaydı çarmıh ve buna bağlı olarak Hıristiyan teolojisinin temel doktrinlerinin en önemlisi olan kefaret doktrini olmamış olacaktı. İşte bundan dolayı Hıristiyanlar İsa’yı Yahudi yetkililere teslim ettiği için Yahuda’ya lanet etmemeli aksine bunu yaparak onun çarmıhta ölümünü sağladığı için ona minnet duymalıdır. Yahuda İncili de tam olarak bunu yaparak Yahuda İskaryot’un aslında bir kahraman ve İsa’nın en güvenilir havarisi olduğunu ilan etmektedir.

: As is well known, the gnostik Gospel of Judas which dates aroundMS. 220-340  have been discovered in upper Egypt towards the end of the seventies of the last century.  But unfourtunately, this gospel remained unread until April 2000 when its sale has been made. In 2001 the present owner of this Gospel has signed an agreement with the National Geographic Society concerning its the translation and media rights. After this agreement the Gospel was restored and publicized by National Geographic Society and became the cover issue of National Geographic Turket’s May 2006 issue.  After became publicized this Gospel has made great impact in the Christian world. Since  it presents a very different Judas than the present Gospels . In the canonical Gospels Judas is presented as the evil traitor who sold-out Jesus to the Jewish High Priesthood which led to Christ being crucified. The so-called ‘Gospel of Judas’ too, presents a Judas who far from being a sinful, demon-possessed wretch, is a faithful disciple of Jesus. Since accordin to this Gospel Judas is a hero who fulfilled his master Jesus’s bidding knowing full well the fate he will bring on himself. In this article after examinin this Gospel we argued that if Judas did not sell out Jesus to the Jewish authorities by betraying him Christianity would not be as it is today. Since in this case there would not be crucifixion and the doctrine of atonment. Because of this fact it seems to us that Judas helped Jesus in his fulfilment of his mission.
