In the balance sheet of general policy of this 65-year-old state, it is noticed that as a result of the colonial experience, India has given importance to its own sovereignty and emphasized the existence of the Non-Aligned Movement in the world politics (during and after the Cold War). Becoming a global and regional player is its two major foreign policy goals. The adoption of a multi-dimensional understanding of foreign policy at the end of the Cold War makes these objectives possible. In this article, it is argued that India which followed a powerful foreign policy in the last 10 years requires the Middle East region in terms of economic, geo-political, geo-strategic and cultural reasons. It is also believed that the target of knitting deeply the “Look West” policy next to the “Look East” policy is the result of its realpolitik approach.
