Bu derlemede, ana ve erkek arıların üreme organları ve doğal çiftleşme davranışları anlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bunun yanısıra, sun`i tohumlamanın arı ıslah çalışmalarında oldukça gerekli ve önemli olduğu saptaması yapıldıktan sonra, tohumlama tekniğinin gelişimi bir düzen halinde sunulmuştur. Sun`i tohumlama uygulamaları ve tohumlama sonuçlarını etkileyen değişik faktörler ayrıntılarıyla belirtilmiştir.

In this review, the reproductive organs of queen and drone bees and mating behaviour were described. However, after explaining the necessity and the importance of artificial insemination in honey bee breeding programmes, the development of artificial insemination technique was presented.
