UMUTSUZLUK, ÇARESİZLİK VE TALİHSİZLİK ÖLÇEĞİ'NİN TÜRK ÖRNEKLEMİNDE GÜVENİRLİK VE GEÇERLİK ÇALIŞMASI
Amaç: Bu çalışma, Lester (1998)tarafından umutsuzluk, çaresizlik ve talihsizlik düzeylerini ayrı ayrı ölçmek amacı ile geliştirilmiş olan UÇT Ölçeğinin, Türk öğrenci örnekleminde kullanılabilir olup olmadığını araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Yöntem: Bu amaç doğrultusunda, çalışmanın verileri çeşitli üniversitelerin öğrencilerinden oluşan 330 kişiden elde edilmiştir. Güvenirlik, her bir alt boyut ve tümölçek için madde toplam korelasyon ve Cronbach alfa ile hesaplanmıştır. Geçerlik çalışması için her bir UÇTÖ alt boyutu özelliklerini, yüksek ve düşük düzeyde gösteren iki grup oluşturulmuştur. Bu iki grubun intihar düşünceleri açısından fark gösterip göstermediği bağımsız örneklem t-testi ile çalışılmıştır.Ayrıca, alt boyutların birbirleri ve tüm ölçek ile ilişkisinin yanı sıra, bu ölçümlerin BeckUmutsuzluk Ölçeği (BUÖ) ile ilişkisi korelasyonyöntemi ile hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular: Ölçeğin,tüm test ve alt boyutlar Cronbach alfa iç tutarlılık katsayısı .76 ile .90 arasında değişmektedir. Her bir alt boyut için yapılan madde-toplam korelasyon sonuçlarının .20 den yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur.

Reliability and Validity Study ofHoplessness, Helplessness, HaplessnessScale in a Turkish Sample
Aim: The aim of this study was to examinethe psychometric characteristics of theHopelessness, Helplessness, HaplessnessScale (HHHS) developed by Lester (1998). Thescale intents to measure hopelessness, helplessness, and haplessness separately. Method:For this aim 330 university students participatedin this study. As for the reliability analyses, itemtotal correlations and Cronbach alpha coefficients were examined for each of the 3 subscales and the total scale. For the validity study for each sub-scale scores 2 seperate groups were formed as possessing high versus low levels of these caharacteristics. The differences between these groups in terms of suicide ideation were examined via independent groups t-test. Moreover, besides the corelation between sub-tests and the total HHHS scores, the correlation of these measures with the Beck Helplessness Scale (BHS) was examined via correlational analyses. Results: The Cronbach alpha coefficients ranged between .76 and .90. Item total correlations for the items under each sub-scale were higher than .20. Regarding the validity study, the whole scale and its sub-scales revealed high correlations with each other and with the BHS. Moreover, the groups possessing high versus low levels of sub-scale characteristics revealed significantly different suicidal ideation at the expected direction.
