Smoking Stress and Coping Skilss Among Young Adults

This aim of this study is to investigate therelationships between smoking and copingskills. Data related to smoking status and copingskills are collected by using the coping skillsinventory. Data were obtained from a randomsample of 127 women (31%) and 279 men(69%). Data were analayzed by independetsample t test and corellation techniques. Therewere significant differences between womenand men smoking rates (t= -4.42, p<.001) andsmoking duration (t= -5.43, p<.001). Theseresults also suggest that there were significantpositive relationships between biochemical coping skill and smoking rate (r= .11, <.001) andsmoking duration (r= .87, <.001). Results werediscussed by taking findings from the literatureinto account
