LAPAROSCOPIC APPENDECTOMY IN DYSTROPHIC EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA: ADVANTAGES OF MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURE
Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) is anepidermolysis bullosa (EB) type that bulla formationdevelops on the dermal surface of thedermoepidermal component due to splitting inthe basal lamina. In these patients, opening ofmechanical blisters caused by trauma can leadto infection. In cases with DEB, surgical intervention, especiallyin the case of abdominal surgery, requirescareful attention to prevent infection of theblisters caused by incision and surgery. Here wepresent a 16-year-old male having DEB who hadundergone laparoscopic appendectomy with adiagnosis of perforated appendicitis. Preoperativeand postoperative interventions have to beplanned to cause minimal trauma and infectionto the skin and preference for a less invasive laparoscopicapproach is the approach
