Yahya Kemâl Beyatlı, yirminci yüzyıl Türk Edebiyatı’nın en büyük şairlerinden biridir. “Bu dil ağzımda annemin sütüdür” dediği arı Türkçe ile yazdığı şiirleriyle büyük ve haklı bir üne kavuşmuştur. Onun tarih bilinci, tarihi olayları devrinin diliyle ifade etme düşüncesine götürmüştür. Bu düşünceden yola çıkan şair, Türkiye Türkçe’si ile söylediği şiirlerinin yanında Osmanlı Türkçe’si ile de şiirler yazmıştır. Aruz vezni ve eski nazım şekilleri ile söylediği şiirlerinde de başarılıdır. Eski nazım şekilleri ile söylediği şiirlerini “Eski Şiirin Rüzgarıyla” adlı kitapta toplamıştır. Bu kitapta gazel, tahmîs, taştîr vd. nazım şekillerinde şiirleri yer alır

Yahya Kemâl Beyatlı is one of the greatest poets of the Twentieth Century Turkish Literature. He owned a great and deserved fame with poems he wrote in pure Turkish Language, which he defined like his mother’s milk in his mouth. His knowledge to history led him to the thought of expressing historical events in the language of the period in which those particular events occurred. With this, Beyatlı produced poems in Ottoman Turkish as well as his poems written in Turkey Turkish. He is also successful in archaic verse form and in those written with “Arûz” meter. He gathered those poems in the book titled on “With the Wind of Archaich Verse”. In this book, poems written in the forms, like gazel, tahmîs, taştîr etc., are included.
