THE RELATION BETWEEN ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Energy factor is one of the important inputs that used during products production process. The consumption of energy is one of the indicators that show the development level of a country. In this study, CADF and CIPS tests and cointegration test are applied for the energy consumption and economic growth in 26 countries. We used 1980-2004 annual data. According to the results of these tests, in 26 countries, the economic policies that will be constituted by targeting energy consumption will also make important contribution to the application of economic policies targeting the economic growth. Afterthe cointegration test, it has been observed that there is a long term stable between economic growth and energy consumption
