Sağlık Personelinin Yaygın Kullanılmayan Kontraseptif Yöntemlere İlişkin Bilgi, Tercih ve Danışmanlık Uygulamaları: Türkiye’nin Batısından Kesitsel Bir Çalışma

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Karşılanamayan aile planlaması gereksiniminin azaltılmasında sağlık personelinin nitelikli danışmanlık hizmeti sunması beklenir. Ancak, dar kontraseptif seçenekler, sağlık personelinin kontraseptif yöntemlere ilişkin bilgi eksikliği, önyargı ve isteksizliği gibi nedenler birey çiftlerin nitelikli aile planlaması hizmeti almasını engeller. Bazen az kullanılan bir yöntem de herhangi bir birey/çiftin gereksinimine daha iyi cevap verebilir. Bu araştırma, sağlık personelinin yaygın kullanılmayan kontraseptif yöntemlere ilişkin bilgi, tercih ve danışmanlık uygulamalarını belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Kesitsel desendeki çalışma, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Doğumevi Hastanesi’nde çalışan 229 sağlık personelinde yapıldı. Veriler, soru formuyla ve katılımcıların öz bildirimine göre toplandı, tanımlayıcı istatistikler ve Ki-Kare analizi ile değerlendirildi. BULGULAR: Ortalama 43.38±8.70 yaşında ve 20.98±9.61 yıldır çalışan sağlık personelinin %40.6’sı lisans ve üzeri eğitime sahiptir, %57.2’si de aile planlaması (AP) danışmanlık eğitimi almıştır. Katılımcılar en çok aylık enjeksiyon (%73.4), takvim yöntemi (%64.6), laktasyonel amenore (%58.1), vazektomi (%55) ve minihapa (%46.3) ilişkin bilgilerini yeterli bulmaktadır. Kendisi/eşi için en çok semptotermal yöntem (%52.4) ve acil kontrasepsiyonu (AK-%50.7) tercih etmektedir. Knowledge, Choices and Counseling Practices of Health Personnel Related to Not Commonly Used of Contraceptive Methods: A Cross Sectional Study in Western of Turkey

INTRODUCTION: Health personnel are expected to provide qualified counseling in order to reduce unmet needs for family planning. However, limited contraceptive options, lack of knowledge, prejudice and reluctance of health personnel (HP) about contraceptive methods (CM) prevent individuals-couples from receiving qualified family planning services. Sometimes a non-commonly used method can better respond to the needs of any individual/couple. The study aimed to determine knowledge, choices and counseling practices (CP) of HP regarding not commonly used CM. METHODS: Cross-sectional study included 229 HP working at Obstetrics&Pediatrics Hospital in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Self-reported data were collected via a questionnaire, and evaluated by descriptive statistics and chi square analysis. RESULTS: Of HP with an average age of 43.38±8.70 years and 20.98±9.61 working years, 40.6% have undergraduate and above education, and 57.2% received family planning (FP) counseling training.
