Diagnostic Contribution of Plasental Diffusion Weighted Imaging in Intrauterine Growth Restriction
INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study is to investigate the diagnostic value of placental diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in patients with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). METHODS: A total of 47 fetuses with 25 IUGRs diagnosed with ultrasound(US) and 22 fetuses with normal fetal development were included in the study. Diffusion weighted echo-planar (EPI) images were obtained from 3T Magnetic Resonance (MR) units of patient and control subjects and Appearance Diffusion Coefficient (ADC) measurements with b- 0 and b-1000 values were obtained from the placenta using ROI. In addition, birth weights of both groups and prenatal fetal DWI measurements were compared after birth. RESULTS: B0, b1000 and ADC values of placenta in IUGR were found to be significantly decreased compared to those without IUGR (p
