Bu çalışmada “mektubun” tarihteki ve edebiyattaki yerine değinilerek, hapishanelerden yazara gönderilen “görülmüştür” mühürlü mahpus mektupları ile Türkiye hapishanelerinin yakın tarihi anlatılıyor. 1980’den bugüne hapishanelerdeki hak ihlalleri, hasta olan ve öleceği bilindiği halde serbest bırakılmayan mahpusların ölüm döşeğinden dışarı yolladıkları orijinal mektupların sunduğu gerçeklikler aktarılıyor.

the article presents the recent history of prisons in Turkey through letters sent to him. The letters sent from the prison were read and sealed with a note “seen and approved!” by the authorities. Those letters sent to the author by prisoners who were fatally ill reveal the tragic realities such as human right violations especially after the coup d’etat of 1980.
