Kayıp Bir Mektup Vesilesiyle

P. Prevelakis, 19. yüzyılın sonu ile 20. yüzyılın başlarındaki Girit'in Resmo şehri hakkın- daki romanında, bir mektubun arzuhalciye yazdırılma hikâyesini anlatır. Bu yazı, bu kayı mektup vesilesiyle, mektup yazma pratiğiyle, bu pratiğin çerçevesinde üretilen ve tüketilen mektupları kaynak olarak kullanan tarih yazma pratiğini ilişkilendirilmeye çalışmaktadır.

On the occasion of a lost letter some thoughts on letter-writing

In a novel about his hometown in Crete, P. Prevelakis tells a story about letterwriting in the beginning of the 20th century. Using this story I attempt to think the social practice of letter-writing and the production and consumption of letters in conjunction with another form of writing that utilizes letters as sources - namely history-writing.
