A Simulation for The Production of 177Lu Radioisotope in the Accelerators

The use of radioisotopes in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer diseases has an important value in medical radiology. In an accelerator, high production yield and low cost in the production of radioisotopes via nuclear reactions are desired. To provide these, the theoretical prediction of nuclear reactions has a crucial. For the production of the 177Lu radioisotope used in the treatment and diagnosis of the tumors via a particle accelerator, the possible reaction are theoretically discussed in this study. For this aim, the excitation functions, reaction yields and product activities of the handled reactions are calculated by using TALYS 1.9 code. According to findings, it can be said that the optimal reaction for the 177Lu radioisotope production is 176Yb(t,2n) reaction.
