İnsanoğlu varolmaya başladığından beri örtünme ihtiyacı duymuştur. Topluluk halinde yaşama sürecinde de doğa şartlarına uyum sağlama ve ahlaksal açıdan örtünme ihtiyacı devam etmiştir. Böyle bir gereksinimden ortaya çıkan tekstil kavramı hem insanların örtünme ihtiyacını karşılamak hem de daha iyi görünmelerini sağlamak için gelişmiş ve bir sektöre dönüşmüştür. Bu çalışmada Türk Tekstil Tarihi, tekstil ve hazırgiyimin Türkiye'deki gelişimi ve durumu güncel veriler ışığında değerlendirilmiş, sektörün ülkemizdeki sorunlarından bahsedilmiş ve çözüm önerileri sunulmuştur.

Ever since human beings began to exist, they need to be covered. In the process of living in a community, the need to adapt to the conditions of nature and to cover up in terms of morality continued. The concept of textile has evolved into a developed and transformed sector in order to meet both the need of people to cover and to look better. In this study, Turkish textile history, development of textile and garment industry and situation in Turkey has been evaluated according to current data. Sector's problems in our country are mentioned and solution proposals are presented
