Comparison of Static and RTK GNSS Observations and Processings

Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS provide various types of positioning solutions, such as single point positioning SPP , precise point positioning PPP , differential GPS DGPS , SBAS, standard real time kinematic RTK and Net-RTK CORS solutions. These solutions are obtained involving different data types, receiver models, data intervals,, mathematical models etc. And serving different classes of users. Today, standard RTK and net-RTK techniques are used to a great extent when compared to conventional relative static GPS technique. Consequently, some questions arise when the point coordinates are determined using a few epochs of RTK techniques in geodetic and cadastral applications. The fi rst and the most important of these questions is to decide whether to determine and rely coordinates using one epoch of RTK observations or obtain coordinates by performing static observations in the fi eld and postprocessing in the Offi ce? This basic question actually rely on two important technical questions. These are; fi rst, if one epoch of RTK observation will be suffi cient for a reliable and accurate coordinate determination? And secondly, how can we provide the coordinate checks of RTK observations? In this study these questions are examined from different aspects; and in order to reach concrete and reliable results observations were carried out in two different net-RTK in Turkey, namely, CORSTR and ISKI-UKBS. Achieved results are presented to readres in addition to the basic theoretical explanations. Fort his purpose observations and processing results are presented related to two periods of RTK and one period of static observations were carried out in CORS-TR and ISKI-UKBS Networks on 15-18.06.2010 and 03.07.2010.
