ANALYSIS OF PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SPONTANEOUS PNEUMOTHORAX
Introduction: In our study, patients who presented with spontaneous pneumothorax were evaluated as primary and secondary spontaneous pneumothorax. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the differences between the clinical features and treatment options of these patients. Material and Method: Patients that were treated by the same two surgeons between July 2016 and December 2018 in İzmir Çiğli Region Training Hospital and Izmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital Thoracic Surgery Clinics were included in the study. The data of the patients were evaluated retrospectively. İzmir Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Tıp Dergisi (Medical Journal of İzmir Hospital) 24 (1): 55-59, 2020 56 İzmir Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Tıp Dergisi (Medical Journal of İzmir Hospital) Results: Of the patients, 59 (92.19%) were male and five (7.81%) were female. The mean age was 35.69+16.9 years. Forty-five (70.31%) patients were had primary spontaneous pneumothorax and 19 (26.69%) had secondary spontaneous pneumothorax. The mean age was 26,87+8,1 in patients with primary spontaneous pneumothorax and 56,58+13,86 in patients with secondary spontaneous pneumothorax (p = 0,014). Patients with primary spontaneous pneumothorax mostly complained of chest pain, whereas secondary spontaneous pneumothorax patients generally presented with dyspnea (p
