Kariyer Seçim Faktörleri ve Sektörün Bu Faktörleri Öğrencilere Sunma Düzeyine İlişkin Bir Araştırma

Kariyer seçimi öğrencilerin yaşamları boyunca yapmış oldukları en önemli seçimler arasındadır. Bu seçimi etkileyen faktörlerin incelenmesi hem kişiler hem eğitim kurumları hem de politika yapıcılar açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Buna ek olarak, öğrencilerin kariyer seçimi yaparken dikkate aldığı faktörleri sektörün ne kadar sunduğuna dair algıları da üzerinde dikkatle durulması gereken konulardandır. Öğrencilerin kariyer seçim faktörlerine verdikleri önem ve sektörün bunları sunma düzeyi arasında fark olması eğitim ve istihdam politikası açısından bir sorun olarak değerlendirilebilir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada bankacılık bölümünde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin kariyer kararı faktörlerine verdikleri önem ile bu faktörleri sektörün ne kadar sunduğu yönündeki algıları arasındaki farklılıklar incelenmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında kullanılan anket formunda Richardson (2009)'ın çalışmasında kullandığı 20 faktöre yer verilmiştir. Çalışmada, söz konusu 20 faktörün 19 tanesinde anlamlı farklılığa rastlanmış ve öğrencilerin kariyer kararında dikkate aldıkları faktörlerin öneminin, sektörün bu faktörleri ne kadar sunduğuna yönelik öğrenci algıları düzeyinden daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır

Research Into Career Choice Factors And The Levels At Which Industry Present These Factors To Students

Career choice is one of the most important choices that students have made throughout their lives. The examination of the factors affecting this choice is of great importance in terms of people, educational institutions and policy makers. The match between what a person sees as important aspects of a career and the extent to which they believe a particular career offers these factors will play a crucial role in that person’s decision making process. Consequently the purpose of this study is to understand what factors respondents found important when considering a career and how well they thought the banking industry offered these. The instrument used in this study was adapted from a survey conducted by Richardson (2009). Respondents were asked to rate 20 factors in response to the question. In the study, it was found that there was a significant difference in 19 of the 20 factors. From the results it is clear that students generally do not believe that a career in banking industry will offer them the factors that they find important
