Deterrents Participation Scale-General (DPS-G): The Validity and Reliability Study

This research was carried out with the aim of testing Turkish validity and reliability of Deterrents Participation Scale (DPS-G). The study was carried out with 171 participators carrying out duty in Hacettepe University. Main components analysis and confirmative factor analysis results applied with the aim of determining the factor structure of Deterrents Participation Scale showed that scale articles has a four factor structure explaining 53.44% of variant and the model with four factors have a more coherent structure with available data. According to explanatory factor analysis, four subdimensions in the Turkish form of the scale was names as respectively ''Personal Problems'', 'Lack of Interest'', ''Lack of Confidence'' and ''Time Limitations''. Cronbach Alpha values of these four factors was determined as respectively 90, 86, 84 and 88. Based on these results, it is possible to say that Deterrents Participation Scale has psychometric characteristics necessary for using this in the studies to be carried out in our country.
