THE EFFECT OF CROGENIC PROCESSING OF AZ63 MAGNESIUM ALLOY ON CORROSION RESISTANCE

Although magnesium alloys are lightweight, their limited corrosion resistance limits their application. However, Mg alloys are the most widely used metallic materials in the industry after steel and aluminum alloys very low corrosion resistance is the major problem of Mg alloys. Therefore, in this study; The corrosion resistance of the samples was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) by applying cryogenic treatment to AZ63 magnesium alloy for 24 hours and 48 hours at -80 ° C. When the data obtained were examined, the β phase and fine-grained structures increased significantly after the cryogenic process and significantly increased the corrosion resistance.
