Does Autotelic Personality Make a Difference in The Effect of Self-Efficacy on Individual Performance?

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of self-efficacy on individual performance and to find out whether autotelic personality differentiates this process. Within this scope, the research data were collected from 308 blue-collar employees working in a private company by survey method. In order to test the hypotheses of the study, direct and moderating effects were investigated by regression analysis. The results showed that self-efficacy has a significant positive effect on employee performance. Moreover, autotelic personality dampened this relationship, particularly low and high level autotelic personality had different effects on individual performance at lower levels of self-efficacy. The findings were discussed in the context of literature.
