THE EFFECTS OF PROBIOTIC AND PREBIOTIC CONSUMPTION ON LACTOSE INTOLERANCE

For many years, different studies have been conducted on the treatment or reducing the harmful effects of lactase deficiency, which is prevailing all around the world. Lactase deficiency, which causes to reduce milk consumption, is mainly based on genetic factors, and they inhibit the prevention of this disease. However, even if it cannot be prevented, it is possible to control the disorders that occur to allow milk consumption. Therefore, alternative methods are being sought to reduce these effects. Recent studies have shown that probiotics and prebiotic consumption reduces the impacts of lactase deficiency in people with lactose intolerance. This paper reviews the studies on the effects of probiotic and prebiotic use on lactose intolerance.
