Etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and management in rosacea

Objective: In this review, clinic types of rosasea, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment methods have been mentioned and updated information on this disease has been compiled. Main findings: One of the most inflammatory skin diseases is rosacea and most of the symptoms of disease begin between the ages of 30-60. It is a chronic disease, characterized by exacerbations and remissions and affects mostly women. With sixth decades, it has been observed in 1.2-5.4% of the population. In clinic presentations, together with cutaneous symptoms like flushing, erythema, edema, telangiectasia, papules, pustules and rhinophyma, various ocular symptoms can be found in different ratios. For the topical treatment, mostly azelaic acid and metronidazole are used. Systematically, at the beginning, tetracyclines and then some various antibiotics and isotretinoin are preferred. For the treatment of telangiectasia, erythema and rhinophyma, some lasers can be used. Conclusion: Since many other diseases have similar symptoms to rosasea, it becomes hard to diagnose for the disease. Same difficulty lasts during the treatment and because of this, treatment requires multidisciplinary and combined approaches.
