Romatoid artritli kadın hastalarda solunum fonksiyon testleri

Pulmonary function tests in female patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the pulmonary function of female patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods: Thirty-two female RA patients and 19 healthy females aged 16-66 years were included in the study. All subjects performed some pulmonary function tests. Results: FEV1, FEF25-75%, FEF50% and PEF values were significantly lower in female patients with RA compared to the control subjects for the obtained results and the percentage rate to the expected results. While FVC values of the patients were decreased compared to the control subjects for the obtained results, there was no significant change for the percentage rate to the expected results. There was no significant difference for VC, TLC, RV and DLCO values between groups. According to these findings, it can be concluded that rheumatoid arthritis decreases expiratory flow rates without lowering the lung volumes. Conclusion: It is concluded that upper and lower airway obstruction are more common in female patients with RA.
