Integration of ecology and entrepreneurship: Ecopreneurship

Entrepreneurial activity is a continuously growing field of business. Recent ecological problems have resulted in entrepreneurial activities being affected by ecological approaches. By means of mass media and education, ecology concept became widespread, and this development is increasing the effect of ecology. Because of this, businesses have to implement ecological approaches in their strategies, institutional structures and social responsibility activities. In this integration process, entrepreneurship and ecology concepts have been combined and ecopreneurship concept has been created. This way entrepreneurship types have gained an ecological view and ecopreneurship has been classified in subfields such as social ecopreneurship and commercial ecopreneurship. This study is examining the conjunctural change in the transformation process from entrep- reneurship and ecopreneurship. Also concepts have been examined according to their ecological dimensions and typologies of ecopreneurship have been given. Conceptual discussions and examination of marketing strategies have been used to evaluate the epistemological validity of ecopreneurship. The need for developing legal structure by lawmakers and administrators is emphasized.
