Türkiye’de Babalığın Değişen Rolleri: (Pro)Feminist Babalar

Bu yazı, Türkiye’deki (pro)feminist babaların babalık rollerini erkeklik inşa süreçleri dâhilinde nasıl kurguladıklarını göstermeyi amaçlamakta ve bu kurgunun kendi çocukları üzerinde toplumsal cinsiyet eşitliğine yönelik ne gibi etkiler yarattığının ipuçlarını sunmaktadır. Türkiye’de, özellikle feminist hareketin de etkisiyle, 1980 sonrasında ataerkil aile yapısındaki geleneksel rollerde bazı kırılmalar olduğundan ve bununla bağlantılı olarak babalık rollerinde bazı değişimler yaşandığından bahsedilebilir. Öte yandan geleneksel babalık rollerinin, erkeklerin erkeklik inşasında ve aile ilişkilerinde hala etkili olduğu da söz konusudur. Bu dinamikler çerçevesinde, cinsiyet eşitliğini savunan, çocuk bakımına katılan ve kadın hareketi destekçisi olan (pro)feminist babaların, Türkiye’de Yeni Babalık için bir rol model olabileceği fikri, 22 erkeğin deneyim paylaşımları ile birlikte ele alınacaktır. (Pro)feminist babalığın dahi bazı noktalarda politik doğrucu erkeklikle kesiştiği ve pratikte değişimin erkekler için kolay olmadığı savunulacaktır.

Changing Roles of Fatherhood in Turkey: (Pro)Feminist Fathers

This paper aims to reveal how (pro)feminist fathers construct their fatherhood during the process of construction of their masculinity in Turkey. It also tries to find out the impact of the roles of these fathers on socialization process of their children about gender equality. In Turkey, it is possible to talk about changing roles of fathers in comparison to traditional roles mainly represented by patricentric family structures after 1980s, especially with the impact of growing feminist movement. However, it is still argued that some traditional roles have a continuing effect on men’s construction of their identity and in their family relations. In this sense, the idea that (pro)feminist fathers who support gender equality and women’s movement, and who participate in childrearing process become crucial role models for “New Fatherhood” in Turkey will be discussed with the experience sharing of 22 men. It will be argued that even (pro)feminist fatherhood intersects with politically correct masculinity at some points and the change in practice is not easy for men
