WİTOLD SZALONEK’İN QUATTRO MONOLOGHI ADLI SOLO OBUA ESERİNİN İCRA BAKIMINDAN İNCELENMESİ VE UYGULAMA ÖNERİLERİNDE BULUNULMASI

Witold Szalonek’in (1927-2001) Quattro Monologhi Adlı Solo Obua Eserinin İcra Bakımından İncelenmesi Ve Uygulama Önerilerinde Bulunulması başlıklı bu çalışma, Yeni Müzik solo obua repertuvarının önemli bir eserini tanıtarak, icra etmek isteyen obuacıları bilgilendirmek ve uğraşlarını kolaylaştırmak amacını taşımaktadır. Yenilikçi bir besteci olan Witold Szalonek’in, çoksesli tınılar tekniğini Bruno Bartolozzi’nin (1911-1980) New Sounds for Woodwind adlı ünlü çalışmasından önce kullandığı bilinmektedir.

The Study of Witold Szalonek’s Solo Oboe Work Quattro Monologhi in Terms of Performance and Practice Suggestions

The Study of Witold Szalonek’s Solo Oboe Work Quattro Monologhi in Terms of Performance and Practice Suggestions aims both to introduce a significant work of solo oboe repertoire in New Music and to inform and facilitate the efforts of the oboists wishing to perform the work. It is accepted that Szalonek, as an innovative composer, had used multiphonic sounds technique before Bruno Bartolozzi‘s (1911-1980) well-known work New Sounds for Woodwind. In his work Quattro Monologhi, composed in 1966, he used the uncommon playing with the reed alone technique besides the new playing techniques such as multiphonic sounds and flutter-tonguing that had symbolic significance in that period. Principally, the aleatoric notation that Szalonek used was an important example in the chaos of that period, aiming to “keep the performer under control as well as freeing his musical fantasy as much as possible by giving him freedom”. A detailed performance analysis of the work has been done in order to reach high performance quality. As a result; in order to be successful in performing new playing techniques, the performer should examine the instrument model and reed features he uses, and develop a special sensitivity by mastering the auxiliary techniques with his personal experience from his patient and conscious work. The key to success will be the setting in the use of these techniques. After reaching a certain skill, it is recommended first to “learn the notation of the work, and then apply the playing techniques on the work with the desired musical expression by practicing individually”. In the study, with the performance analysis, the convenience of performance has been provided by the author’s practice suggestions based on his own experience.
