Antroposen Çağında Ekolojik Sanat: David Buckland, Terike Haapoja ve Mel Chin’in Ekolojik Sanat Projeleri

İnsan etkinliklerinin ekosistemler üzerindeki etkisini ifade eden antroposen terimi, içinde yaşadığımız jeolojik çağı tanımlamaktadır. Endüstriyel üretimde fosil yakıt kullanımıyla başlayan antroposen çağında başta küresel ısınma ve iklim değişikliği olmak üzere birçok çevresel sorunlar görülmektedir. Ekolojik sanat ise insan unsurunun önemine dikkat çekerek çevre sorunlarını konu edinen bir çağdaş sanat anlayışıdır. Çalışmada David Buckland’ın kurucusu olduğu Cape Farewell oluşumu aracılığıyla gerçekleştirdiği Ice Text projesi, Terike Haaopoja’nın Dialog ve Mel Chin’in Cli-mate projelerinin, sanatçıların açıklamaları doğrultusunda incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla öncelikle literatür taranarak ekolojik sanat; çağdaş sanat ve doğa ilişkisi bağlamında açıklanmıştır. Fotoğraf, enstalasyon gibi tekniklerle gerçekleştirilen ekolojik sanat projelerinin küresel ısınma ve iklim değişikliğinin nedenleri konusunda farkındalık sağladığı anlaşılmıştır. Ekolojik sanat projelerinin incelenmesinin bilim, sanat ve toplum etkileşimine ivme katacağı düşünülmektedir.

Ecological Art in the Anthropocene: Ecological Art Projects by David Buckland, Terike Haapoja and Mel Chin

The term Anthropocene, which expresses the impact of human activities on ecosystems, defines the geological age we live in. In the Anthropocene era, many environmental problems, especially global warming and climate change, are seen. Ecological art is a contemporary art that focuses on environmental problems by drawing attention to the importance of the human element. In the study, It is aimed to examine the Ice Text Project carried out within the scope of the Cape Farewell, founded by David Buckland, Terike Haaopoja's Dialog and Mel Chin's Cli-mate projects in line with the explanations of the artists. For this purpose, ecological art literature is explained in the context of the relationship between contemporary art and nature. It has been understood that ecological art projects provide awareness about the causes of global warming and climate change. It is thought that the examination of ecological art projects will accelerate the interaction of science, art and society.
