Sosyolojik Teori Bağlamında Post-Truth Anlatısının Eleştirisi

‘Post-truth’ son derece genç bir kavramsallaştırma olmasına rağmen, içinde yaşadığımız dünyayı anlamak üzere sıklıkla başvurulan bir çözümleme aracına dönüşmüştür. Özellikle 2000’li yıllardan sonra yaygın kullanım alanına kavuşan ‘post-truth’ ile ilgili yayınların sayısı da geometrik biçimde artmaktadır. Ancak post-truth’un bir siyasal durum mu, tarih içinde bir kesit mi, bir zihniyet durumu mu, psikolojik bir fenomen mi yoksa bir eylem biçimi mi olduğu konusu belirsizdir. Kavrama dair yapılan tanımlar keyfi görünmektedir. Böylesine muğlak bir kavramın gündelik yaşamdan siyasal alana kadar pek çok sahada gündem olabilmesi sosyolojik teorinin kayıtsız kalamayacağı bir fenomendir. Belge analizi ve literatür taraması yönteminin uygulandığı bu çalışmada, post-truth fenomeni etrafında oluşan anlatıya, sosyolojik teori bağlamında eleştiri getirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Post-truth kavramının bu denli yaygınlaşmasının sentetik müdahaleler sonucu ortaya çıktığı ve bu müdahaleler ile gerçekle bağdaşmayan anlatılar ortaya çıktığı düşüncesi, çalışmanın temel önermesini oluşturmaktadır.

A Critical Approach to the Post-Truth Narrative in The Framework of Sociological Theory

Although the term ‘post-truth’ is an extremely new conceptualization, it has developed into a commonly used analytical tool for comprehending the world we live in. Post-truth has been widely used particularly since 2000s, with the number of publications on the subject growing exponentially. However, it is uncertain whether post-truth refers to a political status, a historical period, a mindset, a psychological phenomenon, or a type of action. The definitions of this concept appear to be arbitrary. The fact that such an ambiguous term is raised in a variety of contexts spanning from daily life to political sphere is a phenomenon to which sociological theory cannot remain indifferent. The purpose of this study is to critique the narrative that has emerged around the phenomenon of post-truth in the framework of sociological theory through the use of document analysis and literature review. The central argument of this paper is the idea that post-truth has become so widespread as a result of artificial interventions.
