ÜNİVERSİTE ÖĞRENCİLERİNDE İYİLİK HALİNİN YORDAYICISI OLARAK PSİKOLOJİK SAĞLAMLIK

Bu çalışmada, alanyazındaki önceki çalışmalara dayalı olarak üniversite öğrencilerinin cinsiyetlerinin, sınıflarının, genel sağlıklarına ilişkin öz değerlendirmelerinin ve psikolojik sağlamlıklarının iyilik hallerini yordayıp yordamadığı sorusuna yanıt aranmıştır.  Bu amaçla iki devlet üniversitesinde öğrenci olan toplam 244 kişiden, İyilik Hali Yıldızı Ölçeği, Ego-Sağlamlık Ölçeği ve kişisel bilgi formu aracılığı ile veri toplanmıştır.  Analizler için çoklu ve aşamalı regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları psikolojik sağlamlığın İyilik Hali Yıldızı Ölçeği’nden elde edilen toplam puanla belirlenen genel iyilik halini ve ölçeğin beş alt boyutununu yordadığını göstermektedir. Bu durum psikolojik sağlamlığın iyilik halinin önemli bir yordayıcısı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Buna ek olarak sınıf değişkeninin genel iyilik halini, yaşamı anlamlandırma/hedef odaklı olma ve bilişsel alt boyutlarını; genel sağlıklarına ilişkin öz değerlendirme değişkeninin duygusal alt boyutu ve cinsiyet değişkeninin ise sosyal alt boyutu yordadığı bulguları da elde edilmiştir. Fiziksel boyutu sadece psikolojik sağlamlık yordamaktadır. Bulgular alanyazın ışığında tartışılmış ve üniversitelerdeki psikolojik danışma etkinlikleri için bazı öneriler sunulmuştur

RESILIENCE AS A PREDICTOR OF WELLNESS AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The purpose of this study was to investigate a number of possible predictor variables of wellness as suggested by previous research. Among the variables identified in earlier studies were gender, year of school, self-rated health status and resilience. Data were collected from a sample of  undergraduate students (n=244)  attending two state universities.  In addition to basic demographic information measures of wellness and resilience were collected using the Well-Star Scale and the Ego Strength Scale. Results were analyzed using both multiple regression and stepwise regression. The results of this analysis suggested that resilience is a moderate predictor of both overall wellness as well as all five of the sub-dimensions assess by the Well-Star.  Additionally, among the remaining predictor variables, year of school predicted overall, cognitive, and spiritual (meaning of life/being goal oriented) wellness. Self-rated health status predicted emotional wellness and gender predicted social wellness. Findings were discussed in light of current literature and suggestions were made for application in clinical settings with university students.
