TURKISH ADAPTATION OF PARENTS' BELIEFS AND ATTITUDES SCALE FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN'S ONLINE LEARNING AT HOME DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

This study aims to adapt the "Beliefs and Attitudes Around Online Learning" scale developed by Dong, Cao, and Li (2020) to Turkish to determine parents' beliefs and attitudes towards their online pre-school children learning the COVID-19 pandemic. The original scale consists of 27 items in English and is arranged in a 5-point Likert type. The scale was first translated into Turkish, and then the scale was finalized in line with the expert opinion for its competence in terms of language, culture, content, and scope. The study sample was selected from parents with 36-68 months old children attending public and private pre-school institutions of Düzce province and its districts in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, using easily accessible status sampling. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed to test the factor structure of the measurement tool and the appropriateness of this structure. A valid and reliable scale was adapted to determine parents' beliefs and attitudes towards their pre-school children's online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.
