Bibliometric Analysis of the Articles on Assistant Principalship Published Between 1946-2022

Assistant principalship is a critical position in the functioning of schools. However, it does not receive equal attention in the literature with the importance of its responsibilities and functions. On the other hand, especially the COVID-19 pandemic has deeply affected education, school and school administration. The ongoing wave of change in the last few decades has become evident in the extraordinary period that emerged with the pandemic. In this transformation cycle, the level of interest researchers show to the subject of assistant principalship, the aspects of their approach to assistant principals and what results they focus on can help to understand the transformation of assistant principalship. For this purpose, bibliometric analysis of articles published in peer-reviewed journals between 1946-2022 and indexed in SCOPUS was performed. As a result of the analysis made in terms of quantity, impact and scope, it has been seen that the number of articles on assistant principalship has increased in recent years. It was observed that the articles published mostly in the USA and the UK focused on leadership, roles, personal competence, context, organizational psychology, career and professional development.
