Genç erkeklerde semptomatik varikoselin testis hacmi ve spermiogram üzerine etkisi

Varikosel erkeklerde infertilitenin en sık tedavi edilen nedenidir. Varikosel skrotal ağrı ve şişlik yakınmasına da yol açabilir. Temmuz 1997 - Haziran 1998 tarihleri arasında skrotal ağrı ve şişlik ile başvuran 62 bekar askerde fizik muayene ile sol varikosel tespit edildi. Olguların testis volümleri skrotal ultrasonografi (US) ile değerlendirildi ve semen analizleri yapıldı. Aynı yaş gurubundaki 17 sağlam erkekten kontrol gurubu oluşturularak sonuçlar karşılaştırıldı. The effect of symptomatic palpable varicocele on testicular volume and semen analysis in young males

Varicocele is a treatable cause of infertility in man and may cause scrotal swelling and pain. Between July 1997 - June 1998, 62 unmarried military conscripts were referred for evaluation of scrotal swelling and pain and had a palpable left varicocele. Semen analysis were performed in all subjects. Testes volumes were evaluated with scrotal ultrasound and results compared with 17 healthy person in same age range. The differences between left and right testicular volumes in varicocele groups were statistically significant (p<0.05). The left testicular volumes were statistically different between control and varicocele groups (p< 0.05). But, the difference between grade II and III groups were not statistically significant (p> 0.05). Semen analysis indicated lower qualitative parameters of sperm in 13 of 20 (% 65) in the grade II group, while 20 of 22 (% 91) in the grade III group. It was concluded that varicocele treatment is important in symptomatic young males not only relief of symptoms but also prevent of testicular atrophy and future infertility.
