Augmentation of advanced bone defects for complicated implant placement in the aesthetic zone

Lack of sufficient bone to place a dental implant functionally and aesthetically at the most appropriate position is a common problem, especially in the upper anterior jaw. One of the methods to solve this problem is to augment the processus alveolaris by an autogenous graft. Autogenous grafts are taken from the mentum or trigonum retromolare are placed at the buccal aspect of the maxillary (incisal region) fixed by osteosynthesis screws. The aim of this surgical technique is to augment the palatal-buccal dimension of the bone in order to overcome the difficulties which may possibly arise from insufficient bony structure before implant surgery.
