10 üzerindeki olgu oranı (sırasıyla %18.9 ve %8.1, p=0.04) obezlerden yüksek bulunmuştur. Beden kitle indeksi arttıkça Epworth değerinin arttığı saptanmıştır (p=0.009, r=0.185). Sonuç: Morbid obez olgularda uyku apne sendromu semptomlarının ve gündüz aşırı uyku halinin obezlerden daha sık gözlendiği ve beden kitle indeksi arttıkça gündüz uykululuğun arttığı saptanmıştır. Morbid obez olguların mutlaka OUAS semptomları açısından sorgulanması gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Aim: It is known that obesity increases the risk of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and causes daytime sleepiness. In this prospective study, investigation of the OSAS symptoms in obese cases and evaluation of the relationship between daytime sleepiness and obesity were aimed. Material and Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted with 202 obese cases attending at the “Ege Obese Patient School” and demographic data, information on co-morbidities and OSAS symptoms was obtained. The Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) was used to evaluate daytime sleepiness. Results: In the study, 149 (mean age 48.7±10.9 yrs, 12 men) and 53 morbid obese (mean age 47.4±10.4 yrs, 5 men) cases were included. Snoring (p=0.01), nocturnal choking (p=0.002) and unfreshed sleep (p<0.0001) were more common in morbid obese cases compared to obese ones. In morbid obese cases, 22.6% suffered from all three symptoms, snoring, witnessed apnea and daytime sleepiness; whereas this percentage was 8.7% in the obese group (p=0.01). Four morbid obese cases (7.5%) experienced accidents while asleep while none of the obese cases did (p=0.004). The mean ESS (6.6±4.8 vs. 4.9±3.7, p=0.006) and the ratio of cases with ESS >10 (18.9% vs. 8.1%, p=0.04) was higher in morbid obese cases. It was shown that with an increase in body-mass index, the ESS increased (p=0.009, r=0.185). Conclusion: It was found that, in morbid obese cases, sleep apnea symptoms and excessive daytime sleepiness were observed more commonly than in obese cases and with an increase in body-mass index, daytime sleepiness increased. In conclusion, morbid obese cases should be investigated in terms of OSAS symptoms."> [PDF] Ege Obez Hasta Okulu anket çalışması: Obezite ile obstrüktif uyku apne sendromu semptomları ve gündüz uykululuk ilişkisi | [PDF] Questionnaire survey of Ege Obese Patient School: Relationship between obesity and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome symptoms and daytime sleepiness 10 üzerindeki olgu oranı (sırasıyla %18.9 ve %8.1, p=0.04) obezlerden yüksek bulunmuştur.

47.4±10.4, 5’i erkek) olgu alınmıştır. Morbid obez olgularda horlama (p=0.01), boğularak uyanma (p=0.002) ve yorgun uyanmanın (p10 üzerindeki olgu oranı (sırasıyla %18.9 ve %8.1, p=0.04) obezlerden yüksek bulunmuştur.
