Giant adrenal myelolipoma associated with Cushing's disease: Case report
Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare, benign, endocrinologically inactive and asymptomatic tumor which is usually found incidentally at imaging or autopsy. Most adrenal myelolipomas are small (diameter <5 cm) unilateral and asymptomatic. Symptomatic tumors are very rare. They may be associated with an endocrine disorder such as Cushing's disease. US, CT, MRI, are the most effective diagnostic methods. Usually adrenal myelolipoma needs no treatment. But in cases with symptomatic, large sized and any suspicioun related with the diagnosis, the mass should be surgically removed. We reported a case of giant adrenal myelolipoma associated with Cushing's disease in a 51- year- old woman. Imaging studies identified a mass measuring 14x10 cm on the left adrenal which was surgically removed.
