Büyükşehirde ilköğretim programındaki çocuklarda konstipasyon: Sıklık, enürezis ve idrar yolu enfeksiyonu ile ilişkisi
İdrar yolu enfeksiyonunun gelişmesinde konstipasyonun önemli bir rolü mevcuttur. Bu çalışmada, İzmir ilinde farklı sosyoekonomik bölgelerde yaşayan ilkokul çocukları arasında konstipasyon sıklığı ve bu problemin çocuklarda enürezis ve idrar yolu enfeksiyonu üzerine olan etkisi araştırılmıştır Araştırmaya ilköğretim programındaki 1024 öğrenci alınmış ve öğrencilere konstipasyon ve idrar yolu enfeksiyonu ile ilgili soruları içeren bir anket formu uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra olguların idrar analizi yapılmıştır. Constipation in primary school children in a big city: Prevalence and relation to the enuresis and urinary tract infection
Constipation has an important role on the development of urinary tract infection. In this study the frequency of constipation among the primary school children living 7 in different socioeconomic regions of İzmir and the relation of constipation to enuresis and urinary tract infection in these children were evaluated 1024 students at the elementary school level were included in this study. First, they filled an inquiry form related to constipation and urinary tract infection. Then, the fresh voided urine specimens of the students were analyzed by dipstick method and by light microscope. The socioeconomic classification of the school zones were classified in accordance with the zoning documents of the municipality. Socioeconomic levels of the families were determined according to the jobs and income levels of the parents obtained from the archives of the schools Constipation was present in 22.2% of the children and this rate did not differ in different socioeconomic levels (p>0.05). However, the prevalence of constipation was higher among the girls than in the boys (33% and 11.5% respectively, p<0.001) The rates of pyuria, bacteriuria and pyuria +bacteriuria were 29.1%, 12.8% and 9.3% among the constipated children respectively. These rates were significantly lower among the children without constipation (18.2%, 6.4% and 5.3% respectively, p<0.001). While the prevalance of diurnal enuresis was 15.9 and 9.4 percent among the children with and without constipation respectively (p<0.01), the rate of nocturnal enuresis was 14.1 and 8.4 percent respectively (p<0.05) In conclusion, constipation is a frequent complaint among the primary school children and it increases the tendency of these children to enuresis and urinary tract infection. Thus, these children should be educated to avoid constipation.
