1980'li yıllardan sonra neonatal yoğun bakım ve teknolojideki büyük gelişmeler, micropre-mielerde sağkalım oranını ve yaşam kalitesini önemli ölçüde arttırmıştır. Yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitemizde de patient triggered ventilation (PTV) ile solunum desteği, süıfaktan replasman tedavisi ve çok düşük doğum ağırlıklı bebeklere uygulanan özel bakım yöntemleri ile bu bebeklerin mortalite ve morbiditesi belirgin azaltılmıştır. Bu makalede sekelsiz olarak yaşatılan, gestasyonel yası 25 hafta ve doğum ağırlığı 650 gram olan respiratuvar distres sendromlu (RDS) bir olgumuzun bakımı ve altı aylık izlemi sunulmuştur.

Recent changes in neonatal intesive care and techonology have resulted in improved outcomes and survival rates of micropremies since 1980. Management protocol used at the present time in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit including surfactant replacement therapy and patient triggered ventilation have led to a significant decrease in mortality and morbidity of very low birth weight infants. The intact survival and 6-month follow-up of a 650 gram infant with a gestational age of 25 weeks has been reported in this presentation.
