Synthesis and Characterization of Mg co-Doped Zn0.95Li0.05O Nanoparticles

Zn0.95-xLi0.05MgxO (x=0.0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03) nanoparticles were synthesized by the conventional solid state method. The structural and optical properties of the samples were analyzed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Diffuse Reflactance UV-VIS spectroscopy. XRD results showed that Zn0.95-xLi0.05MgxO with wurtzite structure are obtained without impurities and additional phases. SEM images indicate that homocentric bundles formed for Zn0.95Li0.05O while it has hexagonal pyramide like form with an increase of magnesium doping concentration. The optical measurements exhibited blueshift of optical spectroscopy and widening of the band gap with an increase of magnesium doping concentration.
