A GENERAL LOOK TO THE SIZE OF THE BOARDS OF COMMERCIAL BANKS ACTIVE IN TURKEY BETWEEN 2005-2011

In this research, changes in the size of the boards of 14 commercial banks, which were active in Turkey between 2005 and 2011 and did not have a shareholder change, are studied. The banks' 2011 balance sheet sizes (assets, capital and deposit) were taken into consideration and the selected banks were found to be sufficient to represent the sector. Within the research period, all the banks showed an increase in the members of the board. The two exceptions were Garanti Bankası and Tekstilbank (Garanti Bankası had 9, except 2008, and Tekstilbank had 6 members constantly)
