Assisted Reproductive Techniques and Physical Activity

Although treatment with Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) has increased nowadays, there is very limited prof on the efficiency of the physical activity done during the process. Existing prof and the literature indicates that moderate physical activity during ART effects the results positively. However, it has been observed in the studies that woman that are undergoing ART treatment have tendency to decrease their physical activities. The studies carried have shown that moderate physical activities done, decreases the stres and anxiety levels during the infertility treatment which is a stressful process, wipes out the negative feelings, provides relaxation, decreases serum cortizon and prolactin levels and the same time increases endorphin secretion which speeds up the blood circulation. That causes the increase of uterus oxigeneration. This whole process causes angiogenesis and proliferation of the uterus endometrium due to the positive effect on ostrogen and progesteron secration and therefore increases the implantation and live birth rates. Moderate physical activity is defined as 2 hours a week. The health personnel should be aware of the importance of the physical activity during ART and they should encourage the patients to carry out their daily routine physical activity levels. This article aims to analyse the effect of the physical done during the ART treatment.
