Bu makalede amaç, sanatçı kimliği üzerine dikkat çekmek ve bu kimliğin hangi koşullarda oluştuğu üzerinde durmaktır. Sanatçının kimliği bir yandan sanatçının kendi iç dünyası ile beslenirken, diğer yandan da toplumsal ve doğal gerçeklikle beslenir. Sanatçının kimlik arayışı ile ilgili bir gereksinim duyması zihninde bağdaşmaz olanları ve karşıtlıkları uzlaştırma çabasındadır. Ne düşündüğünü ve ne hissettiğini anlayan sanatçı kendi kimliğini bulmanın bir bölümünü gerçekleştirmiş demektir. Eser üretme de bunun bir yolu olarak görülmektedir. Yapılan eserlerin her biri bir benliğin gerçek yaşam öyküsünü aktarmaktadır. Ancak, kim olduğumuzu kavramak hemen olan bir şey değildir, ona adım adım ulaşım. Kimliğini bulma, kendini keşfetme sürecinin "ben" olarak bir iz bırakma, kendini ölümsüzleştirme çabası olduğu düşünülmektedir.

The aim of this article is to point out the identity of the artist and to understand the circumstances in which this identity exists. The identity of the artist feeds itself with the inner world of the artist as well as the social and natural realities. The need for the artist to search for and identity is because of the resolution of the conflict in his/her mind. The artist who understands what he/she thinks and feels, accomplishes a part of finding his/her own identity. Producing the piece of art is also seen as a part of this process. Each of the art pieces reflects the true life story of an identity. But we do not easily understand who we are, which is a step by step process. Finding the identity and exploring the "ser is thought as a struggle to immortalize the identity of the artist.
