Epistemik Güvenilircilik ve Alvin Plantinga’da Tanrı İnancının Güvenilirliği Sorunu

Güvenilirci (reliabilist) bilgi teorisi, çağdaş epistemik gerekçelendirme kuramları içerisinde, dışsalcı (externalist) kuramın bir türü olarak kendisine yer bulmaktadır. Kısaca, bir inancı gerekçelendiren şeyin o inancın oluşturulduğu sürecin güvenilirliği olduğunu öne süren bu yaklaşım, bu bilişsel süreçleri özne dışı unsurlara bağladığı içinde dışsalcı bir pozisyonda yer almaktadır. Bu bilgi teorisinin tam karşı konumunda yer alan içselci (internalist) bilgi teorisi ise, özne merkezli bir yaklaşımla, doğru inancı gerekçelendirecek yöntemin, kişinin kendi zihinsel yapısından yola çıkarak, belli kognitif süreçler sonucunda ulaşılabileceğini öne sürmektedir. Epistemik gerekçelendirme kuramları içerisinde birçok tartışmada kendisine yer bulan bu iki bilgi teorisi, kendi içerisinde de birçok farklı kurama kapı aralamıştır. Burada içselci bilgi teorisinden ortaya çıkan erişim içselciliği, farkındalık içselciliği gibi kuramları ve dışsalcı bilgi teorisinden ortaya çıkan süreç güvenilirciliği, gösterge güvenilirciliği ve erdem güvenilirciliği gibi farklı türden kuramları örnek olarak verebiliriz. Öte yandan çağdaş epistemolojideki bu tartışmalar, dini epistemoloji içerisinde de kendisine yer bulmuştur. Özellikle Alvin Plantinga, kendi dini epistemolojisi içerisinde dışsalcı bir tutum sergilemiş ve son dönem çalışmaları içerisinde de güvenilirci bir anlayışla Tanrı inancının epistemik mahiyetini ortaya koymaya çalışmıştır. Bu makalede öncelikle dışsalclık ve onun bir türü olan güvenilirci bilgi anlayışını ve bu kuramlara getirilen eleştirileri ele almaya çalışacağız, daha sonra A. Plantinga’nın son dönem dini epistemolojisinin de yönünü belirleyen güvence (warrant) kavramını açıklayıp, bu kavramın bütün teist dinlere uygulanabilirliğini sorgulayacağız.

The Issue of Epistemic Reliability and the Reliability of the Problem of Belief in God in Alvin Plantinga

The reliabilist theory of knowledge finds itself a place in contemporary epistemic justification theories as a type of externalist theory. Briefly, this approach, which argues that what justifies a belief is the reliability of the process in which that belief is formed, takes place in an externalist position in which it links these cognitive processes to non-subject elements. The internalist knowledge theory, which is at the opposite position of this theory of knowledge, suggests that with a subject-centered approach, the method that will justify true belief can be reached as a result of certain cognitive processes, based on one's own mental structure. These two theories of knowledge, which are included in many discussions within the epistemic justification theories, have opened the door to many different theories. Here are examples of theories such as access internalism, awareness internalism that arise from the internalist knowledge theory, and different types of theories arising from the externalist knowledge theory, such as process reliability, indicator reliability and virtue reliability. On the other hand, these debates in contemporary epistemology have found a place in religious epistemology as well. In particular, Alvin Plantinga exhibited an externalist attitude in his religious epistemology and tried to reveal the epistemic nature of the belief in God with a credible understanding in his recent works. In this article, we will first try to deal with externalism and its kind of reliable knowledge understanding and criticisms brought to these theories, then we will explain the concept of warrant, which determines the direction of A. Plantinga's recent religious epistemology, and question its applicability to all theist religions.
