TÜRKİYE'DE YAPILAN HOMOFOBİ ÇALIŞMALARINA GENEL BİR BAKIŞ

Eşcinsel bireyler, toplumda önyargı ve ayrımcılıkla karşı karşıya kalmaktadırlar. Bu türden olumsuz tutum ve davranışları tanımlamak amacıyla araştırmacılar homofobi kavramını ortaya koymuştur. Homofobi, toplumun her alanını ilgilendiren ve farklı disiplinler tarafından çalışılması gereken önemli bir konudur. Özellikle, örneklemleri Türkiye'den seçilen homofobi çalışmalarının sayısı son yıllardabelirgin bir artış göstermiştir. Ancak, bu çalışmalar farklı disiplinler tarafından yürütülmekte, yöntem, örneklem, ölçüm araçları ve analiz türleri bakımından pek çok farklılık göstermektedir. Dolayısıyla, bu çalışmanın amacı, homofobi üzerine yapılmış olan, Türkiye örneklemli görgül, kuramsal ve derleme türündeki bilimsel makaleleri bir araya getirmek ve bulguları özetleyerek sistematik bir şekilde ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, ulusal ve uluslararası bilimsel dergide yayınlanan 35 adet makale çalışmaya dâhil edilmiş ve temel bulgular özetlenerek okuyucuya sunulmuştur. Bu çalışmalar: a)Eşcinselliğe ve eşcinsellere yönelik tutumları ve bunlarla ilişkili olan sosyal psikolojik değişkenleri ele alan çalışmalar, b)eşcinselliğe ilişkin tutumların ölçülmesi amacıyla ölçeklerin geliştirildiği veya Türkçe'ye uyarlandığı çalışmalar, c)eşcinsellerin/LGBT bireylerin nasıl algılandıkları ve onlara ilişkin kalıpyargıları ele alan çalışmalar, d)eşcinsel/LGBT bireylerin sosyal ve bireysel alanda karşılaştıkları sorunları ve bunların sosyal ve psikolojik sonuçlarını ele alan çalışmalar ve son olarak e)eşcinsellere ilişkin tutumların değişip değişmediğine odaklanan çalışmalar şeklinde gruplandırılabilir. Bu derleme, alan yazınına, eksik olan noktaların tespit edilmesi ve gelecek çalışmalarda ele alınabilecek konulara yol göstermesi bakımından katkı sağlamaktadır.

A GENERAL OVERVIEW ON RESEARCH ON HOMOPHOBIA IN TURKEY

Homosexuals encounter prejudice and discrimination in society. Accordingly, scholars have introduced the term 'homophobia' to dene these negative attitudes and behaviors. Homophobia is an important topic related to all aspects of life and needs to be studied by different disciplines. Specically, the number of studies on Turkish samples has shown an increase in the last few years. However, the research is carried out by different disciplines and there is a great diversity in terms of method, sample, instrument and type of analysis. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to incorporate empirical, theoretical and review studies into homophobia among Turkish samples and summarize their ndings in a systematic way. To this end, 35 studies in national and international journals are included and main ndings are summarized. The research can be grouped as the following: a) the studies investigating attitudes toward homosexuality and homosexuals as well as social psychological variables related to homophobia, b) the studies conducted either to develop a scale on homophobia or to adapt a scale into Turkish, c) the studies exploring how people perceive homosexuals/LGBT individuals and related stereotypes, d) the studies addressing the social and personal problems encountered by homosexuals/LGBT individuals and their consequences, and lastly e) the studies focusing on the interventions on changing homophobic attitudes. This review contributes to the literature in terms of identifying the missing points in the previous studies and enlightening new topics for future research.
