PANIUMLU PRİSCUS BİR MÜVERRİHİN ENTELEKTÜEL VE MESLEKİ PORTRESİNDEN KESİTLER

Bu çalışma, Hunlar hakkındaki başat kaynağı kaleme alan beşinci yüzyıl Roma müverrihlerinden Priscus'un biyografisini tasvir etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Metinyazar ilişkisi nedeniyle Priscus'u tanımanın, eserini daha iyi anlamayı sağlayacağı ve fakat Türkçede de henüz bu konuda bir literatür tespit edilemediğinden, bu çalışmanın bir boşluğu doldurmaya katkı sunacağı umularak kaleme alınmıştır. Bu çerçevede; kendi eserinin fragmanaları, dönemin diğer müverrihlerinin eserleri taranarak konuya ışık tutabilecek veriler derlenmiş ve bu konuya değinen tarihçilerin görüşleri ele alınarak değerlendirmeye çalışılmıştır. Böylelikle, bölükpörçük bir veri havuzunun müsaade ettiği ölçüde bilgi üretilmeye ve müverrihin portesi oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır.

On Portrait of an Ancient Historian: Priscus of Panium This study aims at describing the biography of Priscus who is one of the 5th century Roman historians and who wrote a main source about Huns. Because of the relationship between the text and the writer, knowing Priscus provides better understanding for his work. We prepare this study as it is not come across a literature about this subject in Turkish and we hope it contributes in filling this gap. In this context, fragments of his work were compiled through revising another works of contemporary historians and it was evaluated by considering arguments of the historians who deal with this subject. In this manner, it was attempted to produce knowledge and to create the portrait of the historian as much as a scrappy pool of information allows.
