Distribution of ErbB1 / HER1 and ErbB2 / HER2 Receptors in the Bovine Tuba Uterine During the Sexual Cycle

The tuba uterina plays a very important role in mammalian reproduction and provides the optimal environment for functions such as oocyte maturation, sperm capacitation, fertilization, and transport of gametes and embryos. Epidermal Growth Factor Receptors (erbB / HER) family is thought to be effective in the functions of the tubular uterina. Many researchers have shown that ErbB1 / HER1 and ErbB2 / HER2 receptors are expressed in varying densities from luminal epithelium, connective tissue and smooth muscle cells of the tubular uterine during the sexual or menstrual cycle. In order to prevent economic losses, hormonal and molecular mechanisms that play an active role during pregnancy should be understood in the best way. In the presented study, the expression of erbB1 / HER1 and erbB2 / HER2 receptors was examined immunohistochemically. In this study, tissue samples were taken from the ovary, uterus and tubular uterina of 23 different Holstein cows. Positive membrane and cytoplasmic staining were obtained for erbB1 / HER1 and ErbB2 / HER2 receptors at varying intensities in luminal epithelial cells, connective tissue and smooth muscle cells of the tubular uterina, and endothelial and smooth muscle cells of blood vessels. As a result, erbB1 / HER1 and erbB2 / HER2 receptors are localized at varying densities according to cell types in the cow tubular uterine during the sexual cycle, suggested that these receptors may have significant physiological effects in the bovine genital system.
