XIX. asır Türk Edebiyatı’nın en önemli isimlerinden Ebüzziya Tevfik, dönem yazınının en üretken şahısları arasında yer almaktadır. Edebiyatımıza ve düşünce dünyamıza önemli katkılar sağlamış olan Ebüzziya, birçok yayın organı içerisinde yer almış ve yazılarıyla dönemine ışık tutmuştur. Batılılaşma gayreti gösteren Osmanlı’ya, Batı’ya yön veren birçok ismi tanıtmış ve onlar hakkında dikkat çekici eserler meydana getirmiştir. Ebüzziya Tevfik’in Latin harflerine aktardığımız bu metni, ünlü Alman mucit Gutenberg hakkındadır. Ebüzziya’nın Türk toplumuna kazandırdığı bu eser, tarihe yön veren isimlerin tanıtılmasında da oldukça önemlidir.

Ebuzziya Tevfik, one of the most well-known Turkish Literature of the 19th century, is among the most productive persons of the literature of his period. Ebuzziya who has made important contributions to our literature and world of thought, has been involved in many publications and has shed light on his period with his writings. He introduced many Western figures, led the Western world, to the Ottomans who in the Westernization effort and he gave the striking works about them. This text of Ebuzziya Tevfik's that we transliterated to Latin letters is about the famous German inventor Gutenberg. This work, which Ebüzziya brought to Turkish society, is also very important in introducing the names that shaped history.
