Birey; çevrede varlığını algıladığı ve hissettiği tüm oluşumlarla birlikte yaşadığı çevrenin bir öğesidir. Kendisini, saran, kuşatan fiziksel çevre içinde birey yaşamak için yapay ortamlar oluşturur. Yaşam alanı olarak tanımlanan bu yapay ortamın fiziksel niteliğini belirleyen strüktürü, ortamın görsel anlamda kimliğini oluşturur. Nitelikli yaşam çevrelerinin oluşabilmesi, ihtiyaç-işlev bağıntısıyla gelişen strüktürün oluşturduğu kimliğin niteliklerine de bağlıdır. Bu nedenle bu yazıda; yaşam çevrelerinde kimliğin oluşum süreci ele alınarak, kentsel kimliğin olumsuz yönde gelişimine neden olduğu düşünülen sorunlar için çözüm önerileri aranmaya çalışılacaktır.

Together with all the perceptual and emotional values of existing environmental formations, the individual becomes a fact of his immediate environment and creates certain habitable zones for himself in this encircling. By the way the structure or in another saying the physical qualities of this environment determines the identity of these areas in the visual sence. Qualified living environments, infact, depend on the qualities of the identity that is provided by the requirement-function relationship of the existing structure. Therefore in this text, by the handling the formation process of identity in the living environments it is aimed to figure out the problematic issues of urban identity formation process and to suggest creative solutions to ease the possible handicaps.
