Türkiye son yıllarda tekstil endüstrisine yoğun yatırımlar yapmış ve bu sanayi dalını ülkenin en önemli sektörü haline getirmiştir. Özellikle 1995 yılında Gümrük Birliği'nin de etkisiyle büyük boyutlara varan tekstil makineleri ithalatı gerçekleştirilmiş, ancak yapılan yatırımlarda herhangi bir kriter esas alınmamıştır. Bu nedenle yapılan tekstil yatırımlarının eğilimlerinin belirlenmesi uygun görülmüştür. Bunun yanında emek yoğun olan tekstil endüstrisinin, artan yatırımlarla istihdama etkisi de önemli görülmüş, işsizlik sorunu üzerindeki olumlu katkıları gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır.

Türkiye has made dense investments in textile industry in the recent years and as a result brought this industry branch as the most important of the national industrial sector. Especially in 1995 with the effects of entering to Customs Union, the textile machinery imports were achieved in a large scale although no criterion has been adopted into the investment policy. For this reason, it has been found convenient to determine the trends in textile investments performed. Alog with this, the effect of textile industry being labor densed on the employments created by increasing investments has also been considered as important and the positive contributions of this industy to the unemployment problems have been tried to be shown.
