Developments of the yarn production technology in textile and automation

Due to their economic efficiency and universal character, new spinning systems are firmly established alongside ring spinning in the short stable spinning section. In the new spinning-winding systems, (such as open-end rotor and friction spinning system, air-jet spinning, self-twist spinning, warp spinning, etc.,) the yam is produced at high speeds and is directly wound onto cross-wound packages. Some of these systems are equipped with automatic piecing and doffing arrangements. The aim of the most of these developments is to increase productivity, improve or at least retain yarn quality, and ensure increased efficiency in subsequent processes. In this study, unconventional spinning techniques include open-end rotor, open-end friction and wrapped yarn spinning systems are introduced and the improvements on automation have been investigated.
