Aşağı Seyhan Nehri sedimentlerinde ağır metallerin mevsimsel dağılımı

Bu çalışmada Aşağı Seyhan Nehri üzerinde belirlenen istasyonlardan alınan sediment örneklerinde Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb ve Zn ağır metallerinin toplam konsantrasyonları belirlenmiş ve mevsimsel debi değişimi ile ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Bununla beraber ağır metal konsantrasyonlarının U.S. EPA sediment kalite kılavuz değerleri (SQG) ile karşılaştırılması neticesinde sediment kirliliğinin boyutu değerlendirilmiştir. Sedimentte yapılan analizler sonucu metallerin alt ve üst değerleri; Cd için 3,2-9,99, Cu için, 5,39-29,51, Fe için 11.385-35.740, Mn için 384-1.202, Ni için 133-310, Pb için

Seasonal distribution of heavy metals in sediments of lower Seyhan River

In this study, sediments of Lower Seyhan River was observed for total concentrations of heavy metals, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, and change of the metal concentrations with seasonal flow variation was investigated, at appointed sampling stations. Additionally, sediment contamination extent was evaluated by comparing obtained values of heavy metal concentrations in the sediments with those stated in the U.S. EPA Sediment Quality Guide (SQG). It was observed that the total metal concentrations in sediments decrease by increase of the river flow rate. Minimum and maximum values of Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn were observed as 3,2-9,99, 5,39-29,51, 11.385-35.740, 384-1.202, 133-310, <0,05-14,43, 58-1.038 mg/kg as dry weight respectively. Despite the SQG does not give values for Fe and Mn the comparison of the obtained total heavy metal concentrations in the Seyhan River sediments with the ER-L and ER-M values defined in U.S. EPA SQG, results that the sediments are “heavily contaminated” by means of Ni, “contaminated” by means of Zn and Cd and “not contaminated” by means of Pb and Cu.
